Give-A-Jam raises nearly $60,000 to end veteran homelessness!

Grammy Award-winning musician Tim O’Brien plays a VIP show for 75 guests at the 2014 Give-A-Jam

The fourth annual Give-A-Jam to end homelessness was held on Thursday, December 18. Hosted by the Clifton Center, Give-A-Jam was created in 2010 by John Harris, Executive Director of the Clifton Center, and his wife Natalie Harris, Executive Director of the Coalition for the Homeless. Together, they wanted to create a new type of event: one where everyone could do something to help put an end to homelessness in Louisville.

The launch of the event coincided with the creation of a new program in Louisville called Rx: Housing. The philosophy behind Rx: Housing is that the prescription (or “Rx”) to street homelessness is, quite simply, to provide housing. The first Rx: Housing initiative, which began in 2011, cut the number of chronically homeless people on the streets by 50%.

This year, the Give-A-Jam is supporting the newest collaborative Rx: Housing initiative called Rx: Housing Veterans. The goal of Rx: Housing Veterans is to end veteran homelessness in Louisville by 2016. (Read more here.)

Through the support of over 400 eager attendees, 11 talented performers, nine amazing restaurants, seven key partners, 36 auction donors, dozens of  cheerful volunteers, and 31 generous sponsors, we raised nearly $60,000 to support Rx: Housing Veterans and end homelessness for our veterans here in Louisville.

Thank you so much to everyone involved for your generosity. Together, we can and will end homelessness for our veterans.

We owe a special thanks to the below people and organizations for everything they did to make Give-A-Jam a smashing success, especially everyone at the Clifton Center for creating and organizing this amazing event.
