Eviction Moratorium Stands in Kentucky

While many people were concerned upon hearing today that a federal judge vacated the CDC eviction moratorium, Kentucky tenants can rest assured that they are still protected from eviction for nonpayment of rent.

Governor Beshear’s Executive Order from March 31 extended Kentucky’s eviction moratorium through June 30, 2021. While this moratorium does not protect all tenants from eviction—and it does not do enough—it does protect some tenants here in Kentucky.

Please note that tenants still need to complete a declaration to send to their landlord to receive protections. Here is an easy form to complete to generate one for you, thanks to our friends with the Kentucky Equal Justice Center.
