Louisville Continuum of Care Awarded $23.3 Million for Successful Housing Programs
HUD funding will support 48 projects ending homelessness in Louisville
Louisville, KY (January 22, 2025)—The Louisville Continuum of Care (CoC) announced today that they have been awarded an unprecedented $23.3 million from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) through their annual competitive funding process.
A total of 48 projects across Louisville will be funded, representing 17 different organizations with proven outcomes and successful approaches toward ending homelessness. Of the $23.3 million total, $20.7 million are considered renewal funds. These dollars will sustain operations for Louisvillians in permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, outreach, and young adults exiting homelessness. The remaining $2.6 million will fund three new projects across the city providing transitional and rapid rehousing to families, young adults, and those fleeing domestic violence.
“The Coalition for the Homeless is thrilled that our joint application for funding from the federal government was so successful this year,” said Natalie Harris, Executive Director. “We know that housing ends homelessness, and with these dollars, our partners will continue that critical, life-saving work for individuals, families, and young adults.”
The Coalition for the Homeless serves as the CoC Lead for Louisville, and as the CoC Lead, the Coalition compiles projects and writes the application for funding each year. Louisville’s CoC housing programs have a 97% success rate of keeping people housed over the past decade; last year, agencies in the city moved 1,608 Louisvillians from homelessness into housing.
In 2023, the Louisville CoC received $17 million in initial funding from HUD, plus $7.7 million in special funds for 11 projects focused on moving unsheltered people from the streets into housing.
