MUSIC EVENT TO BENEFIT COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS AND EFFORT TO END VETERAN HOMELESSNESS
Event will include food trucks, live music, and free admission
LOUISVILLE, KY (July 14, 2015)– Today, First Liberty Financial Mortgage and White Picket Real Estate announced a music event slated for Thursday, August 13, at the new Norton Commons Amphitheater, to mark the beginning of a partnership to support the Coalition for the Homeless (www.louhomeless.org).
The free event, which will go from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., will be a fundraiser and awareness event for the Coalition for the Homeless, the lead advocate for the homeless locally. This year, thanks to the leadership of Mayor Greg Fischer, the Coalition is coordinating a hugely collaborative initiative to end veteran homelessness in Louisville by December. Since January, the Coalition’s partners have housed over 200 veterans.
Favorite local cover band Radiotronic will perform (sponsored by Norton Commons Realty) and food will be available for purchase, including Tea Station Chinese Bistro, who will donate 20% of gross sales to the Coalition; Mike’s Kentucky Kitchen, who will donate 15% of gross sales; and Zoom Zoom Yum food truck, who will donate 20% of gross sales. Professional Bar Service will sell domestic and craft beers, wines, and premium liquors, with 15% of gross sales being donated to the Coalition. 100% of the money raised that evening will go directly to the Coalition’s programs.
“We’re focused on helping home happen for veterans and on giving back to those who have served our country in the name of freedom,” said Jon Leslie of First Liberty. “First Liberty chose to underwrite all costs to ensure that every dollar raised supports the Coalition’s important work.”
While enjoying food, drink, and music, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the face of homelessness in Louisville and will have a chance to donate money to support programs for homeless veterans, families, youth, and others.
In addition to presenting sponsors First Liberty and White Picket Realty, the event is being co-sponsored by Commonwealth Tap, Limestone Tile & Escrow, Norton Commons, Norton Commons Realty, and Pet Station. This event also marks the beginning of White Picket Realty’s commitment to donate 5% of the net proceeds from each client transaction to the Coalition, and of First Liberty’s commitment to help find homes for formerly homeless veterans by waiving fees and donating to the Coalition 5% of any sale to a veteran.
“White Picket’s mission is ‘helping home happen,’ and we are excited that in launching this partnership, we’ll help our clients find the homes of their dreams while also helping the neediest Louisvillians find affordable homes,” said Kyle Elmore of White Picket Realty. “Through this event, we’re honored to be helping to make home happen for veterans.”
Catherine McGeeney, Development Director for the Coalition for the Homeless, expressed gratitude to both organizations. “Louisville is making huge strides in our work to give the homeless a hand up, especially in our collaborative work to end veteran homelessness,” she said. “But we know that it’s only possible for us to affect real change with the participation of everyone in the community. We’re so grateful that First Liberty and White Picket have put together a really fun event while also acting compassionately toward Louisville’s homeless.”
The event is outdoors, and in case of rain, it will be moved to Thursday, August 27.
